In A Nutshell – November 2018

November saw quite a few food events and the rounding out of Oktoberfest celebrations with Wurstfest concluding the season. It was also a back to basics month with me eating, and posting about, Austin and Texan staples such as burgers and BBQ! In addition to all of that, I even had a couple road trips including a quick jaunt to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and a day trip to San Antonio. Here’s a brief look at my November:

Laspadas – Boca Raton, FL

Cipollina – Austin, TX

Carpenter’s Hall – Austin, TX

Texas Monthly BBQ Fest – Austin, TX

@texasmonthly BBQ Fest is always a roaring good time and this year was no different. This is a shot of my first haul of the day of all the places on the lower level near the entrance, which just happened to include 3 of my personal Top 10! Pictured here is @millerssmokehouse with a chicken wing and brisket, @craftmeats with a BBQ kolache, @louiemuellerbbq with a taco and rib, @hayscobbq with brisket, turkey, and sausage, @guessfamilybarbecue with their BBQ topped grits, @hutchins with their Texas Twinkie, brisket, and sausage, @cattleackbbq and their candy like brisket and devilish good crack cake, and my good friends at @eviemaesbbq with brisket, sausage, corn, and ribeye! This festival is your chance to try a lot of BBQ in far flung places instead of traveling over 6500 miles like I did, so don't miss out on this next year!

There's a new burger in town and it's freaking delicious! Over at @thelinehotel they've opened the no frills @deansonetrickpony which is slanging some great greasy spoon style burgers, among other offerings. This is the Dean's Double done up with two @creekstone_farms beef patties, charred onion mayo, queso, pickles, and tomato sandwiched in a Hawaiian bun with a side of fries. This place gets it's name from Don Dean who managed The Club Seville, a members only dinner at dance club at Wilbur Clark's Crest Motor Inn back in the 60's, a hotel now known to us now as the Line Hotel. Secondary fun fact, "dapper" Don Dean was the original emcee of the annual @missuniverse pageant! I really love a bit of historical inspiration when opening something new in a space that's been around a long time. . . . . . . . . . #queso #quesoburger #austinrestaurants #cheeseburgersofinstagram #cheeseburger #greasyspoon #austindining #austintexasthings #atxfoodblogs #atxfoodguy #atxfoodtime #austin360 #atxblog #atxblogger #austinfoodblogger #austinfoodie #burgerandfries #frenchfries #hamburger #downtownaustin #downtownatx #burgerjoint #keepaustineatin #bestfoodaustin #topaustinrestaurants #teampixel #letsguide
